Lab-Grown Diamond Jewelry in Sterling Silver, 10k, 14k and 18k Gold: A Buyer's Guide
Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds with the same crystal structure, hardness and sparkle as mined stones. They are grown in a controlled environment, which makes them more affordable and traceable. At OSKA, our Grand Bazaar workshop in Istanbul sets lab-grown diamonds in 10k, 14k and 18k gold and in sterling silver.
Does the metal change the diamond?
No. The metal only changes the look, weight, durability and price of the finished piece. The stone is the same in every case.
925 sterling silver
Silver is the most accessible option and works well for fashion pieces, rings and earrings with lab-grown diamond accents. We usually finish it with rhodium plating for a bright white surface that resists tarnish. It suits brands that want a lower entry price.
10k gold
10k gold contains 41.7% gold. It is hard and affordable, popular in the US market for everyday rings, bracelets and necklaces.
14k gold
14k gold (58.5%) is a widely requested balance of colour, strength and value, common for engagement rings, tennis bracelets and pendants in the US and much of Europe.
18k gold
18k gold (75%) has a richer colour and is a preferred standard in many European markets. It is slightly softer, so settings are designed with care.
Which should you choose?
- European fine jewelry and gifts: 14k or 18k gold.
- US everyday fine jewelry: 10k or 14k gold.
- Entry price, fashion jewelry: 925 silver with lab-grown diamond.
